I'm Chris, a 24 year old chap with a penchant for technology/computing, an affection for music and unusual obsession with Japan. I reside somewhere in the depths of the West Midlands, England but secretly wish I was back in Japan at times where the weather is a little less wet. I've recently finished my BSC Computer Science (Software Engineering)degree and graduated with honours. With a degree under by belt I now work as web developer for a small web firm.
Character
Without over inflating my ego, I would say I'm quite a kind, well meaning, good mannered fellow who is often rather logical. I'm quite methodical and can, more often than not, be found dwelling on some deep thought. Typically a happy person, often modest and humble and rather shy at times, well, many times but trying to emerge from my shell when I get the chance to.
Interests
My main interest lies in computing, I have been dabbling with computers since the early age of eight when I was fascinated by my fathers Sinclair ZX and Acorn Electron. Shortly after a BBC Model B came into my possession which many hours were lost to writing small programs. I didn't own an x86 based PC until the age of ten when I had a Windows95 box. Ten years after Windows, in late January 2005 I switched to Linux and used the newly released
Ubuntu OS. After using Linux as my OS for two and a half years I bought a Mac and made the switch to
Mac OS X.
For a long time I have had a interest in photography starting from an early age with a film based camera, and upgrading to a basic digital camera around the age of 16. Since then I've owned a Canon A80 compact camera and now use a Canon 450D DSLR camera and a Panasonic Lumix LX3 high-end compact. I upload some of my better photos to
Flickr.
I have a fond love of music and have a fairly varied taste. If I were to list all the artists I like here this page would be too long so please excuse me for redirecting you to
my Last.fm music profile. I'm very slowly learning to play electric/acoustic guitar, keyboard/piano and drums (I also dabble with a fife, flute and harmonica and anything else I can lay my hand to). Unfortunately they are given little of my spare time and it's probably best if you are lucky enough not to hear my attempts at playing these instruments!
Japan, why? I can't explain it but I have a fascination with Japan. It's almost like a fad except for the fact that it's lasted over five years now. I had never flown in my life and during the Summer of '09 I decided it was time to change that. I went to Japan for two weeks and loved it. Everything was pretty much exactly as I had expected. I really didn't spend enough time there and am hoping to visit again soon.
Occupation
I'm currently working as a web developer for
aXcessTen. Previously I have worked for a small local firm as their in-house web designer/developer for one and half years.
