About Me

I'm Chris, a 22 (23 this August) year old chap with a penchant for technology and an affection for music. I reside somewhere in the depths of the West Midlands, a place with much history but also a place being reformed by commercialisation, full of a fair few generic persons, many of which are of a less than savoury nature but I digress.

Character

I'm not what you would call a typical guy, well at least not in this day and age. I'm a kind, well meaning, good mannered fellow who is often described as being very logical. I quite methodical in my doings and can, more often than not, be found dwelling on some deep thought. Typically a happy person, often modest and humble (even with this contradicting self description ) and rather shy at times, well, many times.

Interests

My main interest used to lie in Computing, now it's more of something I can do and have learnt enough about to satisfy my thirst for knowledge. I have been dabbling with computers since the early age of eight when I was fascinated by my Dad's Sinclair ZX and Acorn Electron. Shortly after a BBC Model B came into my possession which I used to write small programs on. I never had an x86 based PC until the age of ten when I had a Windows95 box. Ten years after, in late January 2005 I switched to Linux and used Ubuntu however recently I have made the switch to Mac OS X and my main PC is now a Mac Mini which I transport to and from work.

Computers are now merely a tool I use, mostly professional and less so for recreational purpose. I'm now more interested in other things such as reading, socialising with good friends, enjoying music, practising photography and digital art, studying Japanese and just learning more about what ever interests me when I have the time to pursue these things.

Anyway a bit more detail about these other hobbies.

Photography is something I wish to get into more and further my skills however I find myself never having anything to take a photo of or better still, never having the time to take it. When I do take pictures I usually post them on DeviantART.

I have a fond love of music and have a fairly varied taste, though mostly I listen to rock and rock derivatives. If I were too list all the artists I like here this page would be too long so please excuse me for redirecting you to My Last.fm Music Profile to see my music profile. Typically I listen to music when and wherever I can. That includes on the journey to and from work, at work and at home. I'm learning to play electric/acoustic guitar, keyboard/piano and drums (I also dabble with a fife, flute and harmonica and anything else I can lay my hand to). Unfortunately they are given little of my spare time.

Occupation

I'm currently a student undertaking a Software Engineering degree at Wolverhampton University. For my third year I am working as a web developer for aXcessTen.

I have worked for a small local firm as their in-house web designer/developer and IT technician for one and half years.
