Okay so recently I posted a news post on how to Copy Syntax Higlighted Code from TextMate. What it you use coda however? What hoops do you have to jump through to add such wonderful functionality? Plug-ins, Applescript? Actually, nothing of the sort it's already there! Smileing

Simply:
- Highlight your Code
- Right-Click
- Select Copy with Styles

Even though it's obvious now, it didn't stop me from playing with AppleScript and Google for two hours before stumbling upon this little gem for myself so I'm writing this blog post to help lost souls from searching Google for the same thing Joy

Perhaps those of us who own them will have noticed a few odd quirks in the iPhones text prediction system. I know my friend Tim complains often enough about such quirks he finds to Twitter Winking

What I find rather interesting is the ability for the predictive text system to learn new words and corrections of spellings. The system has learned of my girlfriends name "Risa". That's great, it even capitalises it for me when I type it in lower case which is indeed a handy function. However, my name, an English name instead of a Japanese one which I'm guessing was already in it's dictionary never gets offered the privilege of being correctly capitalised. Only recently has it seemed to have been able to actually learn my name too. For a long time typing my name would produce errors.

I have been playing around with the Coda editor lately. Personally I think it's horribly overpriced for an editor with missing features such as variable and custom function completing and a cut down SVN tool which offers only the basics. I just can't see the point of the all-in-one approach. I have better tools for CSS editing, FTP, SVN, Website preview and Terminal usage.

Bad stuff aside though I'm very impressed with the editor and the overall design of the application, it has to be the nicest looking editor I have seen and that's the main attraction for my wanting to use it. It even has a nice syntax highlighting colour scheme. In fact its so nice I decided to create a TextMate theme so my editors match Cool

Have been doing a lot of university work lately and for that extra presentational edge it's nice to drop some syntax highlighted code into your documentation. I found a TextMate Bundle to allow just that Grinning

However its in a Git repository meaning using something like MacPorts to fetch the source of and compile the Git CLI client and all its other dependencies (Curl, OpenSSH, Perl). So for the motivationally challenged amongst you I have done the time consuming work for you.

I had so much fun typing in "1234567890" just by running my one finger across the top number row of my keyboard. You don't get to do that often that's why 1234567890 Day (did it again Smileing ) is so special. Tonight, at exactly 23:31 and 30 seconds GMT is 1234567890 Day (ah that was a good one).

Make sure you are doing something special at this precise moment because it only lasts for a second and it will only come once in your life time.

If you know what I'm talking about hack away my friend! If not you can always consult old Wikipedia for Unix Time.

Well, well, well. If it isn't an blog post pertaining to a status update on the life of moi! Haven't seen one of those for a while. The lack of activity may lead you to believe there has been nothing to report. On the contrary, I have found that the more activity there is the less I report due to time constraints.

Anyhow, a quick update if you'll permit. The end of an era is nigh. The final days of university are drawing near. Soon I'll be free to be tied up by work until I'm 60 - joy! Needless to say the last year of university, particularly the last semester is more full on than previous ones. Work, work and work. I'm not used to this kind of thing in such quantity. Fortunately the fear of messing it up so close to the finish line provides ample motivation. Also I need to do well in this semester. Last semester was hands down the worst semester I have seen. The grades were embarrassingly low and I even failed a module Embarrassed.

I'm still working as a web developer in Coleshill typically once a week and putting in the occasional full week when I can. The japan plan has been put on hold until it's taken of hold... sometime. This is due to interesting developments. I'm quite hoping to be with my girlfriend sometime in the not so far ahead but still quite far future. After university I would like to continue to work and pay back my debt, after which I will most likely looking at ways of going to America which is where my girlfriend is studying (hence the japan plan temporary cancellation). I have no particular interest in working in America. I guess it will be interesting but it's not something I would be aiming to do were it not for certain female influences.

Anything else? Ah yes, my car has gone due to financial reasons. I'm driving a silver Mondeo which used to be my fathers car. It made more sense to sell it and use the money from the say to buy the insurance for the Mondeo.

One more thing too that's worth a mention. My girlfriend came over from America to stay with myself and my family for a month over the Christmas period. I can honestly say it was the most enjoyable month of my life. That either means my life so far has been terribly dull or I just had a really good time. I can assure you it was the latter Smileing You can quite easily get used to living with someone, especially a girlfriend, in a months time. Meaning, when she leaves you're left feeling like something is missing. She left a month ago and I'm still getting used to constant gnawing of emptiness and the loneliness found in solitude. Plus my thoughts are constantly invaded by past memories, desires and feelings along with the not so pleasant reminder of not knowing how long I'll have to wait to see her again Cry

Time to get on with yet more work...
