OK so not much happened yesterday, just a normal day at work except... my R/C car was delivered ![]()
It was quite a surprise to come home and see it as it had only been dispatched on the 29th. I ripped open the box to take a look at the car. It's some sort of Nissan car though don't ask me which. It's rather ugly but in my opinion all rally cars are. I prefer more style, something along the lines of a 1930's Caddilac Fleetwood.
After unboxing the car I took a good look at it's guts. I'm not into mechanics in the slightest though the way this car works I find very interesting, because of it's simplicity it's very easy to understand the entire working of the car with just a little examination.
The car is a Smart Tech "Winner", I have never heard of Smart Tech but then again the only two maufactures of R/C cars I had heard of are Traxxus and Kyosho.
I was considering putting a few pics up but in the end I decided to wait till there's better light (it was rather dark) and until I get it running. Plus loads of picture of the car (only with a Mercedes shell instead of my Nissan one) can be seen HERE
Something odd about this RTR car is the fact that it says the engine has already been run in. I'm a little skeptical about this and so will run it in anyway as it can't hurt.
At the moment all I have done with the car is tested the radio gear though I hope to get it up and running this weekend. Of course that all depends on the availablilty of Nitro Fuel. I haven't checked to see where I can get the from yet
.
I have never seen this done before but it looks really cool
. I'd give this a go myself only I don't have the right monitor for it really.
People take photos of whatever is behind their LCD screen and then stick it on the LCD screen giving the effect that the screen is transparent.
To see what it looks like take a look HERE.
Who ever thought of that little gem was a genius ![]()
I managed to get all of the default Word Press smilies remade yesterday. They have had quite a few tweaks and there have been improvements made to the position of their eyes and the cheeky, idea and cool smilies. There have also been four new editions :L,
,
) and
B. There are now 30 smilies in total ![]()
All that remains to be done is to add animations to them, they are however perfectly usable as they are.
The smilies can be seen HERE
Well like Saturday, Sunday was also pretty uneventful. It doesn't feel like I have achieved much today as today was rather dull and boring. The dull and boring weather did not help.
Site wise the domain name has resolved for my DNS's and summer-daze.co.uk is go so that's good. I also managed to get that calendar up I wanted which you can see on the right hand side of the site. Apart from that I have put some more work up and put up a photo's section. The Artwork section is now sorted out better too. I have also been working on my smilies today. I have nearly redone the entire set in SVG format. Finally I am nearly happy with these new smilies as they look better than the old Photoshop drawn ones.
There's been a little problem with the R/C car. I was presented with three choices when buying it, there were three different colours each with a different body. I opted for the black car which apparently costs ore however upon trying to pay the ia Paypal I find my debit card that I had on record has now expired, so given the fact that it will take a long time to get another card set up with Paypal I opted for the silver car which isn't as nice but then again it isn't bad either ![]()
Here's a shot of my emoticon set I am currently working on. Originally the smilies were created in Photoshop, having moved to Linux and discovering such wonderfull tools like Inkscape these are now being recreated in SVG. When the set is finished you will be able to download it from here so keep checking back from time to time if you are interested. At the moment all smilies are unanimated but the finished version will have the following smilies animated: Wink, Cry, Laugh, Roll Eyes.
Well I changed the name of the site back to it's original name, Summer Daze. It was changed to Summers Daze because someone had taken summerdaze.co.uk however I brought summer-daze.co.uk. That summersdaze.co.uk was a waste of money ![]()
Saturday came and went, not much going on there. I went out for a drink with my mates on Friday up my local pub and enjoyed several pints of Beer (not Larger).
I have added a mobile version of this site and have also added a subscribe to comment feature when you go to comment which is checked by default. This will notify you if anyone replies to your comment.
I also plan to get one of those nice calendars for the side bar but can't find out where to get them from.
There is now a blog buttons section full of the typical buttons you see on blogs.
