Small is Too Big

I'm not a small guy, in fact I'm taller than the average guy which is why it's so degrading for me to have to buy clothes labelled "small". That aside, it really comes to something when even small is too big.

I got a jumper from a retailer, nothing unusual there. I got the same small size that I'm always forced to have, took it home and it was too big on me, too baggy and the sleeves were too long. How very annoying as I was rather fond of that item of clothing and the retailer doesn't do "extra small".

This made me question the whole size rating scheme. If your a big guy you can choose from "large", "x-large" or sometimes "xx-large" depending on how hungry you were this morning. If you are a small guy you have no option since small has been removed and medium re-branded as small. So why has this happened? Well, the UK is the third fattest nation in the world so perhaps, if we factor in all the obese people I am indeed small by comparison. It's also possible that it's ploy to re-rank all clothing one size lower in order for obese people to get the impression they are fitting into some clothes smaller than they really are.

With the joking aside I think it's a simple case of supply and demand, there's little call for normal sized clothes in England nowadays so rather than remove the "small" range they just increased the size of each range. Curse you abnormally oversized people, I shake my fist at you sirs! Cheeky

Riddian could not agree more with you. I am just starting to be able to buy small sized items of clothing. Before as you know I used to be quite large. When I was large I had the choice of the sizes you talked about. However once I get to small it does not go any smaller, well maybe it does but that's children's clothing. In hindsight I think you can get extra-small , however I doubt you will find them in the shops you buy clothes from.

I am 6ft 2 and 85kgs, so I am tall but not a stick figure. Shopping for clothes is the worst thing in the whole world (perhaps because I was brought up shopping with 2 sisters and my mum).

I find that I have to buy pants that are long enough but after I have done this I need a belt because my waist isn't "normal" (ie: not fat enough). This doesn't happen with shorts though for some reason which works alright for me because I wear them more often than not.

Ah yes! You have reminded me of something Dug, the ever ill fitting waist on trousers, to date I must have just one pair of trousers where the waist fits. For every other pair the waist is about 2-3 inches to big so I need to make good use of belt lol. My legs are to long and my waist to thin.
