Oh No, Thunder!

A few hours ago there was a thunderstorm, nothing spectacular but a thunderstorm none the less. I was on the phone at the time and had my ear pressed against the phone listening. I could hear the interference created by each crash of thunder, then came the "big one". That was very loud over the phone and made me jump.

Anyway, the outcome was every device that was connected to my router including my router breaking. The NIC of three PC's were broken and my router no reboots every five minutes! My server is now totally wrecked as it was a small purpose built system which can not have it's NIC replaced Cry My main computer now has a broken on-board NIC. I have had to remove my 0570 Audigy 2 ZS sound card to fit in a replacement NIC and now I'm using some rubbish on board sound card.

Total cost is around 05160! So in future readers, unplug your computer from the phone line in a thunderstorm... curse you electrical discharge! Mad

EDIT: It would seem that I was not the only one affected, seems everyone in this area seems to have been hit to, some have had their phones or alarm systems broken.

Bad luck on the electrical damage, stupid surges. The thing that sparked my interest the most there was your call to Japan. Were you speaking Japanese or English? Because if you are fluent enough to have a japenese phone conversation already you have picked the language up very quickly.

Are you 'self taught' or do you have someone who helps you out?

Sorry about my lack of interest in the destruction too lol Cheeky

I was speaking mostly English. I haven't really put the time in I should into learning Japanese so I'm not that good yet Cheeky I just do a bit when I feel like it, self taught though I hope to get onto some course before I go to Japan. No problem about you lack of interest in the real reason for my actual post Cheeky

Hm, only slightly unmanly, men can be frightened by unsuspecting loud noises too you know Smileing

Um, I don't know if I will have the time to go on the hunt for this "cool stuff" sorry, I only plan on going for two weeks which may sound like a long time but I think it will feel too short. Tokyo Drift? I'm confused sorry?
