I have read a lot of negative comments about Audible.co.uk customer support, however I was most impressed with the support. I joined Audible.co.uk only a few weeks ago, paying a free £7.99 a month with basically entitles me to the download of one audio book a month. At highest quality the audio books sound like 48-96Kbps mono MP3, I think this should be higher at least 160Kbps and stereo is a must but I can live with it for spoken word.

Yesterday I purchased a learning Japanese audio book (not the first) with an unconventional method of learning produced by earwormslearning.com. Basically the idea is to lay down some words and phrases to music. Being one who likes to try new things I thought I'd give it a go. I foolishly thought a music based audio book would be encoded in higher quality, nope, still mono even. I couldn't stand this, I managed to listen to some of the book but simply could not stand it. I sent an email to Audible.co.uk asking about the chance of a refund and explaining my reasoning. To be perfectly honest I didn't expect anything to come of this, just thought I make my opinion heard. Well to my surprise they did indeed refund me and contacted me only 20 minutes after I emailed them Grining

Can't complain about that at all! I will now buy the CD from the earwormslearning.com site which is more expensive but has the added benefit of being DRM free and, one should hope, CD quality Cheeky

Quality service that, isn't it nice when things just work Grining

Good to see you are persisting with Japanese, you have to have new interests. I am trying to learn the guitar (less than successfully at the moment:D)

what book are you going to buy now (if you get another choice?)

Yeah, its funny I felt it necessary to make a blog post when getting good customer service. Shame it's such a rarity these days.

Yeah I have been learning it for a few months now actually, albeit slowly. It's fascinating to me as it's so unlike English but it has to be the most ambiguous language on earth, never have I know a language that can be interpreted into English so many ways and have words with so many usages. This is what fascinates me the most, unlike other languages where it's easy to say word x = English word y, you have to try to forget that and learn a whole new way of speaking and learn words that don't exist in English.

Yeah, I agree with you about new interests. Learning the Guitar is great fun once you can knock some tunes out of it. I have been soft of learning it for about nine years now. As in I play some songs on it every now and again lol. Anyway I wish you good luck with it!

Too late! I have already bought another book Cheeky I decided on getting "A Brief History of Time" maybe you have heard of it? It have wanted to hear it for a long time though never got round to it before. I started to listen to it last night, I found the start quite boring as it was just covering a few simple, well, well-known facts. It then started to get into the theory of relativity and quantum mechanics, not in great detail of course. Some of the examples I heard were most fastening though Smileing
