Beer Ban

Nearly a month ago I decided to give up drinking beer for a month, why? Well two reasons, one was that I wanted to know how easy it would be to do so, I have become quite a habitual drinker and two is that I wanted to see whether or not it would make me feel better, I often feel lethargic and know that beer supposedly stops you from entering a state of deep sleep so I thought it was worth a shot.

I would class myself as quite a fan of beer. Now, before I continue I would just like to make clear that I do not drink beer to get drunk. I never drink so much as to be adversely effected by beer, perhaps a little merry but that's all. I drink for the love of the taste Smileing I drink a few pints when I go to the pub on weekends, and a pint every night. I decided, perhaps it's too much? Well yes it is according to medical advice so I have decided to cut down. First things first, I need to drop the habitual every night drinking session. Hence the monthly ban, it was a bit hard at first, not having a drink every night, no I was not addicted, just it's nice to have a drink at night. I don't really mind it now however, I have also visited the pub with friends and drank... Coca-cola. Which is an awful drink in my opinion.

Well it's been an interesting challenge, well if I can call it a challenge as it wasn't really hard at all Cheeky I have found out that beer probably doesn't have any effect on how sleepy I feel, actually the amount of sleep I get is the biggest problem. I shall continue to miss the every night drinking session but change it to the occasional drinking session. Maybe once a week or so, the few pints of the weekend shall continue once more (yay!).

The ban shall end a little early this Friday (I think as I forgot to take note when I started the ban lol) as it is my friends birthday so I shall honour the occasion with a pint or two. Can't wait... Cool

University I have found can get you drinking like nothing else. For the first three or four weeks of year there was not a night that I didn't drink. I was a bit worried actually because it got to the stage where I decided I had to stop, it was strange not drinking.

I too love the taste of beer, not sure about your pommy beer though Cheeky:D

What university do you go to! lol. People always have this wild vision of uni students drinking all the time. Not at my uni.

Our pommy beer is the best I'll have you know, of course if you can point me in the direction of a good Australian export I'll be interested in trying it Cheeky

I go to The University of Ballarat Grining My drinking was done over O Week (not sure if you have that in the UK, you probably do) It's pretty much a rite of passage to get drunk everyday for a week, so I started on Saturday, went all week...then of course it was saturday again, so I had more drink and kept going for a few more days...

As for Aussie brews you should check out Hahn, Cascade and Boags....All great beers.
