Summer Daze

I couldn't resist blogging from the Wii, I just received the Internet channel this morning, well actually I was woken up at 5AM by the Wii's pulsing blue light. I wish Nintendo would consider people in different timezones when making these announcement's I'm sure many people like me have the console in their bedroom and the "dim" setting for the pulsing light isn't dim enough.

Anyway the browser, how does it fair? Well the font size on summer-daze can be read but is far to small to be legible. On my computer I set the minimum font size to 15/16 to make sites easier on my eyes however this is not an option on the Wii, at least not in the current trial version who knows what extra features the final may have.

The browser appears to mimic 1024 pixel width judging by the fact that I can see large boarders around my site. I was hoping for a width of 800 as it would make things much more legible on an SDTV. Apart from that there isn't really a lot to report, it's just a browser after all and a very basic one at t

EDIT: No I haven't finished the above sentence early that's all the Wii would let me type!

Where does most of your spam come from? From some guy claiming to be a Nigerian prince? Perhaps from some company selling degrees? Maybe even from a pharmaceutical company selling Viagra?

Well none of my spam comes from any of the above places, it all comes from Uni. Wolverhampton Uni love sending me spam, spam about events they think I would be interested in but have not requested information about, spam because it's a general message sent to many people which only applies to a few and spam that other people have managed to send to hundreds of people because some cretin doesn't know how to use BCC.

Worst of all is the fact that this spam can't be blocked, I need to allow email from this address.

A perfect example was waiting for me today in my inbox. Someone thought it would be a good idea to wish everyone well for the Christmas holidays, that someone has a phobia of blind carbon copy. Stupidity breeds stupidity, because hundreds of email address's were now just a "Reply to All" click away it was only time before morons decided to use it for the same.

So now, I have a gigantic list of email address copied into the body of the email for every cretin that felt themselves important enough to address the thousands of students listed. That's annoying but it gets worse, the replies looked like they were written by a backwards five year old e.g "hey peoples merry xmas n a happy new year 2 y'all hope ur wishes n dreams cum true".

If I was in school this is of course to be expected, idiotic immature teens tend to use this deformed English because their peers do and therefore it's cool. Well this is University, I'm meant to be amongst intellectuals however this is sadly not the case. Are these people really expected to hold a professional occupation? I despair.

Well this post is only five days late but I have been busy with other things, namely uni work and playing the Wii.

After hearing the words "sell out" I began to wonder how safe my pre-order was, I pre-ordered with GAME and just to make sure did so as soon as they were taking pre-orders, this was around September. Well five days ago on the 8th, at 7am (the earliest time GAME opened) I finally got my hands on the Wii. Getting up at 6 is an experience I would rather forget, or at least had forgotten since the start of my second year of Uni that has no early morning lectures. It really took the life out of me, I was a walking zombie, but not a flesh craved one, I was after the Wii. I managed to sleepwalk down to the bus stop and catch a ride into town.

How many people were crazy enough to be there at 7am? Around thirty, which considering I live in a small-ish town is quite a lot, at least at lot more than I expected as I only imagined a few to be there. I should mention now that this is the first and perhaps only time I have been there on the launch day to pick up a console, why? Well this wasn't just new game X or better graphics on game Y, this was a new way to play and I couldn't wait to try it Cheeky
