What is Racism?

Racism, fascinating isn't it how people can take an instant dislike towards other people based upon race? It makes you wonder if it's instinct, perhaps one is naturally meant to feel hostile to another race, there are so many people out there who are racist and not one can justify their reasons for being so with anything meaningful so instinct it the best "excuse" I can come up with.

I stumbled upon a video on YouTube I found very funny, what interested me the most however was the comments, the mixed views.

Racism seems hard to define and everyone seems to have a different view of what it is or isn't. Some people seem to be very sensitive towards racism to the point where mockery of a particular stereotype in the name of humour should not be performed by people of a different race of that which the mockery is being made of. Others take a more laid back view and see nothing wrong with it. The remaining minority of the commenter's are just racist.

What's interesting is the very sensitive and and the more laid back view of racism. Is being so sensitive taking it too far, is being so laid back not taking it far enough?

Some of the comment's are appalling and it makes me wonder what type of people post them. However they serve well as a harsh reminder of the darker side of humanity which fortunatly, I do not deal with and only to often forget of it's existence.

Very intresting blog post , i have also come from the school of thought that it is indeed instinct and have many a arguement with people about it. I am sure that we can carry on this point at our pub sessions on thursday.
