Summer Daze

The first day of Uni came and passed. Today I got sorted into tutor groups and met my tutor for the next year and filled in a couple of forms about my computing abilities. One of the questions on a form was "Have you used Linux?" Yay! I thought Winking

Apart from that not a great deal more happened. I spent a good couple of hours exploring and familiarising myself with Wolverhampton city centre. At the end of the day I met up with what I assumed to be the rest of the computer year undergraduates in a rather crowded room. Not much was said here as the computer was broken and so the would be presented presentation never was. We were told of a prize of a Palm PDA for each of the team members of groups which we shall be sorted into by ability. A challenge I'll find only too easy no doubt.

Uni looks like it should be interesting and hopefully will give me a chance to be mentally challenged by programming tasks. The mention of Linux has given me some hope that people at least know what it is and so perhaps I wont have to say hello to Bill as I do my work on Windows?

Well there hasn't been a great deal of anything going on lately except a flurry of activity on the LogicFury side of things. I plan to make use of BerliOS.de's SVN service as soon as Ano, the next version of LogicFury is ready and then begins the time that I start to take on developers for it.

There's only four days till I start Uni if you count today. The first week will be an introduction though and so my guess is that wont be too interesting.

Work on Suaren has halted for the time being as LogicFury has taken over. A few posts down the line I made an entire post in Suaren and said I would follow it up shortly. I would have indeed liked to have done that but I don't have the time just yet. I'll fill you in on what the article said though or the majority of it anyway. I spoke of releasing two documents one "Aksif-arn Suaren" (Speaking Suaren) and the other "Suaren Hyen Sed" (Suaren Word List). I also spoke of purchasing a domain name as the final plan is to create a site for the language with a proper dictionary and (hopefully) a community. Since I don't know of anything like this being done before I have no idea of how this will turn out.

Well a chapter in my life has finished, today was the last day of my first job as a Webmaster/IT guy which I had worked in for one and a half years. It feels very very odd leaving, like my life is changing and moving very quickly. I now have one week before I start Uni and leaving the job was a real indication of how close this is as today it really sunk in that I'm leaving and soon to start Uni.

It's funny how you can know something but not feel something till the time for it draws near.

Finally I know what it looks like and why it was kept secret for so long.

The controller looks akin to and is wireless like a TV remote controller but obviously with a lot less buttons. There is a D-Pad at the top with a few more buttons lower down. From this you begin to wonder how you could ever use such a device with two hands as it would be rather awkward to hold being so small. Here's well the real innovation comes in or "revolution" if you will. The control is tilt/motion sensitive, yes this is nothing new but the way in which this tilt/motion sensitivity is used is something rather special. To best describe it imagine playing a game where you are wielding a sward. So you'll sit there stationary in your chair moving only your thumb to set the sward in swinging motion. With the Revolution you pick up the controller and slash away as if it were the sward. How this interacts with the game I am not entirely sure as that much has not been reviled yet but I should imagine it is not just tilt sensitive but also tracks the motion of the device creating a sort of 3D mouse if you will.

My opinion is that this idea is simply amazing. The level of user interaction that can be gained from such a system will be unlike anything any game has had before. This could and should reinvent gaming providing new areas for innovation to flourish. Why it was kept such a secret is now very obvious. This is a very original concept that points the way to new possibilitys and new markets which of course any games company would like to benefit from.

I'm glad that it's my favourite (and the only true) games company who are trying to better the collection of generic clone games that are in such plentiful supply today. Such innovation could one day see Nintendo back at the top again and what a great day for gaming that would be Cheeky

Go and watch the Revolution Teaser Video now.

Well unless you have never visited here before you'll probably have noticed the theme change. The site no longer runs no Wordpress but as the title indicates LogicFury.

It's been a long time coming and I regret to tell you that it's still not finished and not as bug tested as I would have liked but something came up as it usually does preventing me from doing this yet and the lack of being able to blog was becoming quite annoying so I thought I'd upload what I have... at least it's a start Cheeky

As you can see the gallery section is missing which is a big clue as to what the thing is that I was working on but didn't get to finish. One day the gallery will return however, much better than it was before. For the time being at least I have a blog that does what I want it to how I want it too Cool
