I thought it was time, as I do every couple of months, to take another look at the development of the latest FileZilla 2.9.3. What's so good about this release of this great open source FTP client and server? It works on Linux.

Linux does not have a decent FTP client, gFTP is as good as it gets but it lacks in many areas which FileZilla will fill.

Looking Good, The latest FileZilla Build

It's nice to see there has been steady progress going on every time I have come to look at the program, it seems quite functional as it stands, I uploaded the above picture as a test but it does still lack on important features. One new thing it does support now is address bar completion, that great autofill feature that Gnome's Nautilus makes use of on it's address bar, this is tremendously usefull to me.

The feature I am really holding my breath for is a move directory. gFTP is without this feature and so moving directory's along with their content had involved firing up a copy of Windows FileZilla under Linux which apart from being awkward to use due to the bad integration Windows programs have in Linux the program also looks very ugly as all Windows programs do.
