Smilies Nearly Finished

I managed to get all of the default Word Press smilies remade yesterday. They have had quite a few tweaks and there have been improvements made to the position of their eyes and the cheeky, idea and cool smilies. There have also been four new editions :L, Angel, Smileing) and WinkingB. There are now 30 smilies in total Grining

All that remains to be done is to add animations to them, they are however perfectly usable as they are.

The smilies can be seen HERE

Hey Chris, when are you going to finish these wonderful smilies? They're really the best I've seen yet; not too small, coulourful but still simple and really cute.

Hi Scream, thanks for signing up :thumb:

I'm glad you like the smilies, I plan to finish them as soon as I get around to installing Photoshop on my machine again. Animation and the Gimp aren't fun, having said that animation and Photoshop on Wine isn't either Confused

I don't see the problem with Smilies and GIMP, it's only renaming layers. I never managed to do animations with Photoshop, as I couldn't find an introduction and didn't get through on how to make it there, so I just stuck to GIMP and it's alright (ok, to be sincere, I didn't really try hard with Photoshop as I don't like to boot Windows just for one program).

Fast reply Winking

Well the problem I had with the GIMP is that I couldn't find a way to make GIF's have more than one transparent colour and I found the whole animation thing rather confusing.

With Photoshop I know what I'm doing so I find it easy. Perhaps I should give the GIMP another go. I blame Inkscape for not having an export frames function otherwise the animations would be done by now Laughing

Well, I admit it could be easier than renaming layers, but I don't see your problem with transparent colours. Perhaps you used GAP for your animations, well let me tell you that it's completely wrong for smiley animations Winking. If you want to give it another try, download the newest GIMP version (just to make sure you're not using

Not using what lol?

I have the latest GIMP but I still have no idea how to define multiple transparency index's for GIF's which is very important if you want smooth looking GIF's.

Lol, you have a limit of characters in your comment script. And double-posting ends up in an empty post.

What do you mean by defining multiple transparency indexes? GIF has a 256th color, the transparency. It doesn't define a color to be transparent. But therefore there is only this color that is transparent, and there cannot be any semitransparent areas. It's a problem with GIF, not with GIMP.

I understand how GIF works, perhaps I didn't explain it well enough. Phoshop allows you to pick more than on colour to be transparent. AFAIK GIMP does not Sad
